After years of community advocacy, I’m proud to share that Ryde Hospital will soon have its own MRI machine, part of the $526.8 million Ryde Hospital Redevelopment.
When I found out that the former Government left space for an MRI but no funding for the service, I worked alongside Clr Lyndal Howison to make sure our community didn’t miss out.
For too long, Ryde patients needing an MRI have had to travel to Royal North Shore or Westmead Hospitals for scans. This new MRI will mean faster, more accurate diagnoses, better treatment plans, and improved outcomes for local patients, right here at home.
The MRI will be part of Ryde Hospital’s new seven-storey Acute Services Building, which is due for completion in late 2027.
About the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment
The $526.8 million redevelopment will deliver:
- A new and expanded Emergency Department
- More inpatient beds and modern surgical spaces
- A new Intensive Care Unit
- Expanded medical imaging facilities, including the MRI service
- Improved accessibility, landscaping and public spaces
