Expressions of Interest are now open for the 2025–26 Volunteer Grants round.

Volunteer Grants support the work of local community organisations across Bennelong that rely on volunteers to deliver programs, services and activities. From sporting clubs and cultural organisations to community services and support groups, volunteers play a vital role in strengthening our local community.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to eligible not-for-profit organisations to support volunteers and volunteer-run activities.

What are Volunteer Grants?

Volunteer Grants support the work of local community organisations by:

• Removing barriers to volunteering
• Supporting volunteer-run activities
• Providing small equipment and resources
• Strengthening community participation

Who Can Submit an EOI?

To be considered, your organisation must:

• Be a not-for-profit organisation
• Have at least 40% volunteers
• Have an Australian Business Number (ABN), or be willing to provide a Statement by Supplier
• Be located in, or delivering services to, the Bennelong electorate

What Can the Funding Be Used For?

Volunteer Grants can be used to directly benefit volunteers and volunteer-run activities, including:

• Communication equipment (e.g. laptops, phones, software, internet costs)
• Insurance for volunteers
• Equipment and items that remove barriers to volunteering
• Items that support volunteer-run activities for eligible community groups

Key Dates

• EOIs open: 25 February 2026
• EOIs close: 1 April 2026
• Department application period (for nominated organisations): 18 May – 29 May 2026
• Expected notification of outcomes: From September 2026

  Once you have reviewed the eligibility requirements, you can complete the online Expression of Interest form.
  • Complete the Expression of Interest Form

Important Information

• Grants are one-off and not ongoing.
• Organisations must not spend funds until a formal Letter of Agreement is issued by the Department.
• All organisations must first submit a local Expression of Interest to the Federal MP.
• Only organisations nominated by a Federal MP may apply to the Department. Nomination does not guarantee funding.
