Applications are invited for the casual position of Community Outreach Officer in the Office of Jerome Laxale MP, based in the Bennelong Electorate Office in Epping, NSW.

The successful applicant will be committed and enthusiastic to their role with experience in outbound phone calling preferred but not essential as training will be provided. Hours are usually from 5pm to 8pm on weeknights.

Diary and Administration Manager

Applications are invited for the part-time ongoing position of Diary and Administration Manager in the Office of Jerome Laxale MP, based in the Bennelong Electorate Office in Epping, NSW.

The successful applicant will be committed and enthusiastic to their role as they work as part of a small and dedicated team in supporting the work of the Member and his office. Suggested hours would be 9:30am – 2:30pm, Monday to Friday totalling 25 hours a week.

Key Duties:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the MP including diary management travel arrangements and other ongoing administration.
  • Organise, support, and attend community and electorate activities and meetings
  • Engage with constituents and respond to enquiries via a range of media
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of people
  • Proven experience in diary management, like outlook or google calendar.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks to deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Demonstrated work ethic and ability to meet the demands and flexibility of an Electorate Office; an expectation of flexibility and working of additional hours is necessary for this role
  • High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
  • A customer service focus and a pleasant, positive, and respectful demeanour, with the maturity to engage with members of the public who are experiencing distress
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as part of a small close-knit team
  • Experience in financial administration, management and record keeping
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
  • Strong interest in the Australian political system and the Bennelong community

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:

  • A commencing salary between $48091 for twenty five hours per week, (pro rata amount), will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
  • An additional allowance of up to $8,354 (4 ESA) may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work
  • Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements)
  • An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable. A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
