What It Is:
Starting July 1, 2025, the Australian Government will launch the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, offering an upfront discount of approximately 30% on eligible home battery systems. This initiative aims to support over one million new battery installations across Australia by 2030.
Eligibility:
- Available to homeowners and small businesses.
- Applies to battery installations by an accredited installer.
- Battery systems must be between 5 kWh and 100 kWh in nominal capacity.
- Discount provided for up to 50 kWh of usable capacity.
How to Apply:
- Installations can commence from April 6, 2025, but rebates will be applied starting July 1, 2025.
- Engage an approved installer under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
- Rebates are delivered through the installer via small-scale technology certificates (STCs)

What Is It?
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) offers an upfront discount on solar panel systems by issuing Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Installers apply the discount directly to your quote, reducing installation costs by $2,000–$5,000, depending on system size and location.
Eligibility:
- Property located in Australia
- Solar system under 100kW
- Installed by a Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited installer
- System and components must be CEC-approved
How to Apply
- Get a quote from a CEC-accredited installer
- Installer claims STCs on your behalf
- You receive the discount upfront in your quote
No paperwork required from you—your installer handles everything.
What is it?
A NSW State Government program, further funded by the Federal Government, to help apartment buildings install shared rooftop solar systems, reducing energy bills and emissions for residents.
Who is eligible?
- Owners corporations (body corporates), strata managers
- Buildings completed and without solar installed in the past 10 years
How to apply?
- Confirm eligibility above
- Gather proof of ownership and building info
- Apply via your state’s portal
- Wait for approval
- Install solar system and receive funding
These are low-interest or zero-interest loans funded the Australian Government to help households and businesses finance energy-efficient upgrades. They aim to reduce upfront costs and support the transition to cleaner energy solutions.
Who is eligible?

How to apply:
- Nationally: Apply through participating credit providers who have signed onto the Household Energy Upgrades Fund.
